This
annual event at Gunther’s Yard brought out about 100 visitors who
enjoyed roaming around admiring George’s collection of engines,
tractors, military equipment, motorcycles and antiques. Even though
it was raining and cold, that did not deter the enthusiasts from
coming out to enjoy the day visiting the 1 1/3 acres of George’s hobby
yard, which includes 1200 feet of railroad track.
This year Betty Gunther and daughter-in-law, Joji were in charge of
cooking up the hotdogs which were accompanied by several side dishes.
Betty’s grandchildren were in charge of selling the beverages.
This event has been open to the public for about 30 years and takes
place the first Sunday in December. If you ever have the opportunity
to visit Gunther’s Yard, come out to see George’s collection. He will
be happy to show you around and if you’re lucky, he may take you for a
ride on his engine to get the grand tour of his yard.
We would like to thank all those who participated by donating can
goods/non perishables and toys for those who are less fortunate.
Thank you George, Betty for hosting this event!
