Annual Gunther Yard Show
December 4th,
2005
On a Sunday December 4th, George and Betty Gunther had
their Annual Yard Show. This years show was greeted with wonderful
weather and great people.
Several local clubs along with the Long Beach Model T Club,
attended and represented their clubs with a variety of antique engine
equipment and cars. Demonstrations of various types of machinery were
on display.
Paul O'Neil and Ron Daleo were displaying Paul’s scaled down, fully
functional steam crane. Paul demonstrated how the crane maneuvered
and moved equipment and soil.
Also on display were the many stationary antique engines. Mostly
restored, they were up and running to show the visitors how these
machines worked in their glory days.
For those who hungry Betty Gunther and Erma Baysinger were, for a
small price, selling Hot Dogs, Salads, and drinks.
The main reason that this event is held every year is to collect
food and toys for the Salvation Army. These items are dispersed
amongst needy families so that they to can enjoy the Holiday Season
with their loved ones. This years event met that goal the large
amount of food and toys that were donated by the events patrons.
Many thanks goes out to Betty and George for putting on this
fabulous event. For me this was my first time, and I was very
impressed on how well the event was received.
