Christmas Light Tour
December 17th,
2005
Long
Beach Club Members gathered on a cool December Saturday at the Los
Alamitos Race Track for this years Light Tour. This years tour took a
similar, but different approach as in years past. This years we began
the tour in the early afternoon and made our way to Down Town Disney,
in the City of Anaheim (adjacent to Disneyland).
Every year Downtown Disney boasts some of the best Holiday
displays, music, and shopping. And this year it was not a
disappointment. When we arrived everyone was greeted with Christmas
Music, and Holiday hustle and bustle. Most of the members separated
for a short time to get lunch and do some shopping at the local
stores.
At 5:00 P.M. most of the club members jumped back into the T’s and
made there way to George and Betty Gunther’s in Long Beach for some
Holiday goodies. Now I say mot of us, because I myself had a some
issues with my car (broken crankshaft). Merry Christmas! But I was
safely rescued by Joe Brun, as he came and trailered my car home.
Thanks again Joe.
As everyone arrived at the Gunther’s there we once again greeted
with Holiday Cheer, as George and Betty served up coffee, cider,
cookies, and cake. Once everyone had a full plate they made there way
to George’s shed in the back. Now when I say shed I say it lightly,
because it is anything but. In this shed george houses a multitude of
antiques and memorabilia.
As everyone moved in side, the player pianos that George has were
playing music, and the pot belly stove was cranked up on high. It was
great to relax and converse with friends, and discuss the plans for
the up coming year.
Thank you goes to George and Betty for opening up their home to
club, which they have been doing for over 50 years. See everyone out
at next months Inspection Tour at Tome Leroux’s shop.
