Shop Tour
February 12, 2005
Our
February 12th tour was gifted
with absolutely beautiful weather. We met as usual at the “Bagelry”
and after small talk and some minor repairs, the 35 of us departed for
our first destination.
One of our members, Dave Taylor, was the first stop as he was gracious
enough to open his shop up on his Saturday. After a short tour of the
machine shop he took us next door to see his hobby/restoration shop!
What an ideal place to work on projects. After showing us around, he
took us over to a CNC machining center to share what he was doing.
Would you believe he created and produced a dash plaque to commemorate
the occasion? What a treat! A big thanks needs to go out to him and
his brother for not only their hospitality but also for the unique
memento they made for us.
After much prodding we got back on the road and went to Hobart
Crabtree’s house. Hobart only had two of his cars at home but we were
able to see a beautifully restored 1956 Buick convertible and an
exquisite 1929 Cadillac La Salle. After looking over the cars he
invited us into his house to view the collection of antiques he and
his wife have amassed. He had show and guess items and even gave some
of our members past issues of several automobile magazines.
Our last stop took us to Bellflower to the home of Robert and Mary
Jane Teitsworth. While there we viewed a partial collection of their
automobiles and managed to devour a fine catered meal courtesy of the
LBMTC.
If you weren’t there you should have been as a great time was had by
all. Hope to see you at the next tour.
