LBMTC 44th Annual
Turkey Hunt
November 20th,
2005
Sunday,
November 20 was a perfect California day for a Model T tour. The
temperature hovered in the low 80s and there was not a cloud in the
sky. First of all, as we gathered at the Bagelry, our tour leader, Ed
Williams, handed out booklets, which included our route, a multiple
choice quiz, a fill in the blank quiz and a space for each
Thanksgiving Symbol we would find at each of the seven locations.
Also in the booklet were stories from years gone by starting with the
first Turkey Hunt in 1961. The answers to the quizzes mentioned above
were found in these stories. Ed told everyone at the drivers meeting
that there were three routes so be sure to follow the route in your
own booklet.
At Location #1 we had a really hard time trying to figure out if
the little pinecone Michael Spaziano found on the ground might be what
we were looking for. But no, it turned out to be a sticker carefully
hidden from easy view of a turkey. Some of the stickers were much
easier to find than others and some were low and some were high.
At the park Fabulous Phyllis was proud of the clue that she thought
appropriate for Thanksgiving – and that was an empty Wild Turkey
bourbon bottle. And no, it didn’t help her score!
Wardlow Park was the perfect ending about noon for the Ts and
drivers and passengers. There were hamburgers and hotdogs and lots of
good side dishes brought by members with Polly’s pies for dessert.
After the poker hands were drawn and the quizzes corrected the
winners were announced.
