1926 MODEL T FRONTENAC
FORD ENGLISH RACE CAR
1926 MODEL T FRONTENAC FORD ENGLISH
RACE CAR which is the only one built this way by this coach maker in
the world. This vehicle is a 1926 Model T English Ford Race Car Custom
Built Speedster Body all hand built aluminum The body maker is LERCK.
The story goes that Alfred Moss
built this car in 1926 to race on sand and boards in the U.K. This car
was first brought to the U.S. in 1976 to a vintage race car auction at
Pocono Raceway in Pocono, PA. The engine and transmission are Model T
with the Frontenac over head cam racing cylinder head carburetor and
exhaust manifold. The Frontenac racing cylinder head was built by the
Chevrolet Brothers so the Ford engines could compete with all the
other racing teams and it helped Ford to finish 5th in the 1923 Indy
500. It has manual transmission with a Hypoid over drive rear.
The suspension on this car is a
transverse coil spring front and rear and that was a period racing
system for race cars back in the 20's.
